Tales of Thread is an ethical sleep and loungewear company that makes beautiful, high quality pieces that celebrate pan-African design, culture and artisanal work while challenging the fashion and garment industry to transform their social and environmental standards for good!

Every girl needs a good pair of pyjamas. Whether it be for winter or summer, we will forever be on the search for a versatile and comfortable pair that can take us through the year. What better pyjamas though, than something stylish and ethical.

Sourcing the best fabrics including super soft organic cotton and silk blend, 100% cotton, Masaai beading and unique pieces on indigo and mud-cloth, Tales of Thread showcases emerging designers and brands, and connects creatives to a global, stylish and international shopper.

Tales of Thread empowers women through sustainable employment and professional development and works with over 50 women in female owned/managed factories in Ghana and the UK. The factories are female owned or managed and go beyond economic development, providing communication and leadership training. Their transparent supply chain guarantees above market wages in safe working conditions, and their partner foundation enables women from impoverished communities, traditionally excluded from the formal sector to access training and skill development.

Founded by Rebecca Fordham, a HSBC Women in Business Award 2017 and Forward Ladies National Awards 2018 nominee, in 2016, Rebecca understands the powerful transformation financial freedom can have on women, their children and their communities. She wanted to create a sustainable platform that supported well paid, creative jobs which drew on her love for textiles and lifelong love affair with the African continent – and so Tales of  Thread was born.
